Music Education
As a music educator, Nancy enjoys working with students of all ages and levels. She believes that music and art should be a part of everyone’s educational experience. She offers a variety of music classes for all skill levels.
In addition to teaching the clarinet, flute, and saxophone in a private lesson setting, Nancy also coaches chamber groups, teaches music theory, and loves teaching a music history course in music of women composers.
It is never too early or too late to begin music lessons, or to study the theory or history of music. For woodwind players, young children may begin lessons as early as seven or eight years old on special flute and clarinets designed for the smaller hands. Students move to full sized instruments as they grow.
Adults wishing to start playing an instrument or polish up on their skills can take lessons weekly or bi-weekly. There are also several opportunities for adult musicians to play in community bands and orchestras in the Worcester area.
For those students interested in auditioning for local District or All-State opportunities, or to prepare for auditions for colleges, Nancy can assist students as they prepare for these events. Several of Nancy’s students have successfully auditioned and have been selected for Eastern, Central, and Western MMEA District Festivals, All-State MMEA Festivals, and numerous colleges and universities. Many high school graduates go on to major or minor in music, or to perform with the university orchestras, wind ensembles, or bands while majoring in other disciplines.
With a solid music education, participating in music can last a lifetime.
